Jacque Porterfield
|
Studio owner, Jacque Porterfield has been practicing Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga since 1999, and teaching it since 2002. Her first teacher training was with David Swenson. Along with many hours of home practice she has done workshops and trainings with teachers David Williams, Kathy McNames, Doug Swenson, Nancy Gilgoff, Pattabhi Jois, Manju Jois Danny Paradise, and Dee Silvers. She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher with 200 hours of training under Yoga Alliance. In April, 2006, Jacque bought Lehigh Valley Yoga and, in addition to the Ashtanga classes which are the primary focus of the studio, she increased the number of alternative styles of yoga classes. Today the studio offers classes for athletes, expecting moms, kids, and special classes for weight loss. Beginning in 2010, Hot Yoga (thanks, Randi!) was added to the list of class styles. Jacque believes that there is a style of yoga for everyone, and at her studio, students are encouraged to try all the types of practices available.
Jacque has worked hard to create a friendly, warm environment in the studio where all students are made to feel welcome. She is dedicated to building community through outreach programs, fundraisers, and social events to be held during the year. Her vision for the future is to continue to create a vibrant, energetic studio that offers a range of athletic, gentle and spirit-filled yoga classes for a variety of life stages... yoga for every body. |

She enjoys spending time with her daughter, cooking, playing outdoors and dreaming of travelling to exotic places... (maybe someday...). |
| Maureen Murphy |
First studied yoga briefly in the mid-'70s. Yoga, this time ashtanga yoga, re-entered her life when she met Erica McHugh 9 years ago. Since then she has had the opportunity to study with Beryl Bender Birch, Kathy McNames, David Williams, Nancy Gilgoff, Richard Freeman and Manju Jois; as well as receiving teacher training certification from both Doug and David Swenson. She teaches both here at Lehigh Valley Yoga and in New York at the Ashtanga Yoga Shala. She especially enjoys mysore style classes and introducing yoga to new students. |
Sybel Sierra

|
Sybel Sierra has tried many yoga styles until discovering Ashtanga Yoga in 2005. She immediately fell in love with this practice because it challenged her physically and tested her mental discipline. Since developing a consistent practice, her body eventually became stronger and her mind less cluttered. Eager to share the transformational benefits of this yoga style with others, she completed her 200-hour Yoga Alliance Teacher Certification at Lehigh Valley Yoga in 2009. She supplemented her training by attending several Ashtanga workshops with Kino MacGregor, Lino Miele, Govinda Kai, Tim Miller, David Swenson, Nancy Gilgoff, and David Williams. She now actively studies with Manju Jois and continues to travel to India to study with R.Sharath. Sybel is also a student of Sanskrit and Yoga philosophy with Manorama. She has heart-felt gratitude towards the many teachers who influenced her both on and off the mat.

Edit Ginsberg |
Edit has been teaching all levels of private and group yoga classes in the Lehigh Valley since 2007. It is her passion to introduce this wonderful method of moving mediation to anyone interested in learning about themselves, finding productive ways to combat everyday stresses, as well as growing strong, balanced and flexible.
Her “stretch-and-flow” approach to yoga practice combines hatha’s deep stretching and relaxation with the fluidity of ashtanga – appropriately modified to the needs of individuals. She earned my 200-hour certification at Jai Yoga, and holds a BS in elementary education from East Stroudsburg University. Yoga teaching is her part-time passion. Her full time job is teaching 3rd grade at Seven Generations Charter School. |
Carl

|
Carl's path in yoga started with a simple idea, to stretch and open the body. In the years to follow, his path led to Ashtanga, where he found that yoga is body, mind and spirit bringing one towards wholeness. Carl is a 200 hour registered yoga teacher. He has attended workshops given by Pattabhi Jois and Manju Jois. Carl has also studied with David Swenson, David Williams and Danny Paradise.
"When expectations are released and possiblities are embraced, body, mind and spirit will find balance." |
